I hope this happens. It will do wonders for that area. The size is appropriate and the 3 buildings will make this feel like a very dense development and dense parcel. I’m unsure what the square footage of each building is, or the size’s square footage, but the floor to area ratio (FAR) would have to be over 2 for this project.
Ground break isn’t scheduled until early 2021 so I wouldn’t anticipate any news for a while. The project is located in an opportunity zone and the developer doesn’t intend to seek incentives so it shouldn’t face too many hoops from city hall.
Found this most recent rendering on Kcrag. The project took a major evolutionary change and greatly expanded. It appears office space and a larger hotel were added. The modernist architecture blends nicely with the Kauffman Center without completely overwhelming it. I hope similar projects come along in the future. I’ve always envisioned this area to become a premier and walkable district.
